Ntumwa Abel is a bright 12-year-old boy and the fourth of ten siblings. After his father’s passing, the children were placed with different relatives, and Abel was taken in by his aunt, Taboola Immaculate. She lives with her husband—who is currently jobless—and their four children, along with two other adults. To support the household of eight, Immaculate weaves and sells papyrus mats, earning only 2,000 UGX per mat. She makes just 1–2 mats a day, and the little she earns goes toward feeding the family and trying to save for school fees. Despite the challenges, Abel remains hopeful and determined to continue his education.
