Shadrack is the sixth of seven children and lives with his mother and a sick brother. Six years ago, his father tragically died after being attacked by a crocodile in Waigara. Shadrack’s mother is a farmer who grows maize, cassava, and beans, selling some of the crops to earn money. However, her income is not enough to cover Shadrack’s school fees and his brother’s medical treatment. They live near Lake Victoria in a temporary home in the remote village of Panda, Mayuge District.
