Namusisi Shatra is a lively 6-year-old girl from Uganda. She lives in Lingira village with her aunt and other adults. The main economic activities on Lingira Island are fishing and farming. After the death of Shatra’s father, her mother remarried, but her stepfather did not treat her well. Shatra was left wandering around the Namugongo landing site on Lake Victoria in Mayuge District, where she sold fish for her stepfather. A kind well-wisher who knew her aunt Justine contacted her, urging her to come and rescue Shatra. Since then, Shatra has been living with her aunt and now attends Foundation Christian Schools, which is a 40-minute journey from her home to Dubai village where the school is located.
